This collection brings together printed documents in civil procedural law housed in the CRAI Law Library and CRAI Rare Book and Manuscript Library. The books span the period from the sixteenth century to the early nineteenth century, before the codification of civil procedural law later in the nineteenth century
The collection contains De pactis nuptialibus sive de capitulis matrimonialibus tractatus by Joan Pere Fontanella, including the first edition (1612-1622) printed in Barcelona and the edition appearing in 1752 in Geneva. he work went through repeated printing at the main publishing centres of the period (e.g., Lyon, Venice, Geneva) and this fact stands as a testament to its value. The work sets out customary family law in Catalonia and addresses legal protections in the areas of marriage and inheritance. Fontanella was one of the few Catalan legal scholars of the period to enjoy international prestige.
